First I wanted to write my blog about Adele until I watched the reality program ‘Plain Jane’ on MTV monday afternoon. I just realized it’s a program with people from the UK but its origin is American. Plain Jane is presented by Louise Roe, a British fashion expert who transforms boring girls into real fashionista’s.

It hasn’t stolen its name, has it?

‘Plain Jane’ means literally a girl with an average appearance and  that’s the concept of the program. Louise tries every episode to transform the participants into beautiful self-assured girls.  If you have a really low self-image, you really need some fashion advice, you’ll never dare to talk voluntarily to a guy and you have a crush on one for a really long time, then you are the perfect candidate for Plain Jane.

Believe in yourself, that’s the target!

Louise prepares the girls during the program for the date they have at the end of the episode. Before their participation they had to send a videotape which Louise could watch to get to know them better. In that tape the girls had to tell Louise what their fears are so they could deal with it. Louise tries to help the girl to get over their fear which keeps them from talking to a guy or to be social in general. Other concerns like the fear of height for example could also be mastered in ‘Plain Jane’. Louise had several tricks to make the girls more social for example to let them act a stage play or to let them be a stand-up comedian for one time. In that way the girls get more confident. In the episode watched last Monday, the participant Lucy had a really low self-image. Louise solved this problem to let her do a professional photo-shoot with a male model. In that way she felt more beautiful than she first thought she was. By getting over that kind of fears they will have a whole new view of life and the date in the end will get easier.

The second step for Louise is to change their fashion style. She goes to a European city like Barcelona, Athene Paris and many more to shop with ‘her Jane’. She lets the participating girl select several outfits on her own and Louise herself will also select some outfits. Then she has to fit it and she will realize that she can be gorgeous by just putting other clothes on. When Louise has chosen an outfit for the date, they have their way of to the hairdresser and the make-up artist. They prepare the girl’s hair and make-up for the evening. 

Finally the guy, who’s invited by Louise and who’s the crush of ‘the Jane’, waits for his date at one of the greatest places of Europe. It’s the final destination for the girl to tell him she’s in love with him. If that gets well it’s another mission accomplished for Louise!
